Literature Text

Looking down upon the works of the other gods, Gar, saw the skies and the lands, the seas and the creatures. Then he saw the people. He saw love and logic and purity. He saw hate and violence and sin. He saw hope and misery. He saw peace and war. He saw small weak creatures destroyed. He saw might and terrifying beasts. He saw myth and legend. He saw heroes and villains. He saw life, and he saw death. He loved every little inch of it.

Gar looked at the works of the other gods and the gods looked at him. The lord of the gods, Sek, asked of Gar what he would bring to the world? "Hark, I have made of the heavens, Taw has made of the skies, Eph has made of the earth, Lif has made of the seas, Mos, has made of the beasts, and Ank has made of the man. Pray tell what hath thou done for the world, what gift does thou bestow?" And Gar thought, he thought, and as he thought the skies rose and fell.

"I shall make any desire of man or beast, whom asks of me, to come true." Gar responded.

"To what end?" Asked Ank.

"No end, I shall grant any and all requests." Gar said and looked back down up on the world with a smile.

"No." Taw said, "There must be rules! Chaos would ensue."

"Man is a simple beast, Gar." Ank fretted. "If each beast and man asked for all the food and power in the world, then what? If one asked to be as powerful as us?"

"What if man or beast was to ask to be unstoppable in combat? What if they all asked to be immortal?" Asked Lif.

"Then they shall have it!" boasted Gar.

"No." Sek lifted his arm and the gods fell silent. "If Gar wishes to grant any mortal who asks the thing they desire, then so be it! But, there will be rules."

Taw drew out her tome and quill and began to write as Sek laid down the laws.

"The first. Thou shall only grant only one desire per decade."

"Agreed." Gar begrudged.

Ank stepped forward. "There must be some way to decide who will get this desire."

Mos rose. "The beasts battle for survival, for food, can this not apply here?"

"But man will wage wars for their king if such a thing would be done." Ank protested.

"Then let it be a competition between two individuals!" Eph declared. "A tournament!"

"Yes." Spoke Sek and Taw wrote in the tome.

"A tournament of desire." Gar sneered looking down upon the world. Beasts indeed did kill one another for survival, and man indeed slaughtered one another in the name of their kings. "So be it. But how will man and beast know of this tournament?"

"They will know of it if their desire is strong enough." Sek answered.

"Very well, it shall be called the Tournament of Gar." And Taw wrote this down.
All fighting games need a story, and the more in depth and... who am I kidding, it's a thinly veiled excuse to pummel some guy.

(Hey! my first text post! I should post more!)

edit: Oh, yeah I wanted to mention that nothing was coming to me as a back story, I kept thinking, it'll involve a god, and the prize it a desire. But writing this information down was proving difficult up until I decided to name the god after an Alligator Gar I saw the day before or so at the Academy of Sciences. Once I had a name, the rest was easy.
